About the Treatment

Root canal treatment is used to save a tooth when the nerve inside becomes infected or inflamed due to deep decay, cracks, or trauma. Instead of removing the tooth, we carefully clean and disinfect the root canals, then seal and restore the tooth so it can continue to function normally.

Treatment is completed under local anaesthetic, and most patients are surprised at how comfortable the procedure feels. The biggest advantage is that it allows you to keep your natural tooth and avoid extraction, helping maintain your bite and jawbone.

Root canal treated teeth are more brittle over time and often need a crown for protection. In some cases, extraction and replacement with an implant or bridge may be considered as an alternative. After treatment, mild tenderness is normal for a few days. We recommend avoiding heavy chewing on the tooth until the final restoration is completed and maintaining regular brushing and flossing.
